In a weird time of polarizing politics we are asking you to take sides. Do you prefer the Old World coffee of Ethiopia over the New World coffee of Colombia. We use wine analogies all the time, but there is no better place to do so than with this Old World vs. New World analogy. In our distribution Ethiopia represents the Old and Colombia represents the New and we want to know how our Coffee Club members feel about the dynamic differences. For some background, coffee has its origins in Ethiopia with that old story about a goat herder and his jacked up goats. When we first started sourcing coffee it was very hard keep from being polorized by the beauty and complexity of Ethiopia coffee, but in recent years we have been fascinated by the diversity of flavor and the heavy explorations of high elevation coffees in Colombia. Colombia has become one of our favorite origins because of this exploration and experimentation and we believe the future of specialty coffee is growing there. The two coffees we are sending are representations of both. The Dimtu is a gorgeous representation of the Old World. Its a washed heirloom coffee from Guji Ethiopia with notes of tea and bright citrus. Buesaco Lot 1 is a blend of 13 small lot farmers predominately from 2000 MASL. It has more round fruit quality mixed with subtle clean caramel finish.
