THE MASTER ROASTER ORIGIN & TASTING NOTES

The Moreno Family has created a dynasty in the mountains of Honduras. There are seven total brothers running and managing the farm of El Filo. Some would say that’s chaotic, but the coffee says otherwise. It’s a coffee that makes you want to slow down. Miguel is the family’s eldest brother and leader. He’s the driving force behind the Moreno’s collective movement into making specialty coffee. Coffee became unsustainable that, for a time, he had to leave his family in El Cedral to find work in other countries. Since 2005, the Moreno family has had many wins in the Cup of Excellence. This has dramatically changed things for the family over the years, as they have wisely and progressively invested that year’s and subsequent auction winnings into better infrastructure for processing and drying. The family itself continues to evolve with the younger generation growing up and taking on more responsibility over the coffee activities.
