Ibu Mega - Indonesia
Ibu Mega Sumatra
Taste Story
You’ll appreciate the toasty, sweet, and bright nature of this wet hulled community lot from Indonesia. Sweet caramelization will remind you of a delectable creme brulee or a caramel sundae. A nice strike of citrus brightness on the finish makes this a well rounded coffee to sip. This rich and bright coffee offers a flavor sensation for every coffee drinker.
Processing Journey
Wet hulling is a washed process devised in Sumatra as a solution to the rainy and humid conditions that make drying coffee tough. Typically fresh cherries are depulped, fermented overnight, washed but only partially dried. The husk is removed while the coffee is still soft and pliable; much earlier than usual. Once delivered to a mill the coffee is dried completely.
Farmer Profile
This lot is a collection of beautiful harvests from smallholder farmers curated by Ibu Mega, a farmer herself. She began working as a collector with her husband Pak Keiza. Pak is a trainer of and inspector of coffee farms. So this husband and wife team knows how to assess high quality coffee cherries.
